It’s the end of the first month of 2016, we made it! Going into this year we were all diligently writing down goals and aspects of our lives we wanted to change for 2016. Thats what it’s all about anyway right? Making changes for a better you. Whether it be to lose weight, take a new class or better your performance in a specific sport it can be very trying to stay on track in achieving these goals. Many will fall to the wayside but not you, you are persistent and resilient to whatever obstacles that may try to stand in your way.
Everyone is always talking about goal setting but how do you really go about it and better yet set the wheels in motion to achieving what you set out to. I’ve decided to partner with my good friends over at theVitamin Shoppe and help you guys first understand how to set solid goals. Second, some products that will keep you moving towards achieving those goals that I use myself as an athlete in chasing my own goals as well. Are you ready? Then let’s #getyourgoalon !
What are the main principles of goal setting or is there a formula that is most effective? Sure there is.
Be Specific :
Before you can set a goal you have know exactly what you want. Makes sense right? Pinpoint it specifically no generalized goals here.
Layout several points along your path that measure your progress. By being able to measure your progress it keeps you on track to achieving the target point.
It’s good to set high standards for yourself but in setting goals so high all you do is set yourself up for failure. Keep hitting short term goals and you keep your drive to keep climbing.
Your goals have to be based on something that is of importance to you. Not based on the outside judgements of others. A change, a desire or level of living that strikes a personal chord within. If it’s not you’ll have no motivation to achieve it.
Time Bound :
Lastly, put a deadline on it. Why? It will keep you accountable for that allotted time frame or things just tend to drag on. Pressure does wonders to accomplish things.
All these key points are laid out for me at the beginning of each season. It is our blueprint you could say. We start with the end goal and work our way backwards all the way to the initial preseason training phase. Aiming to hit each mark along the way enabling me to know if I’m on course, behind or if things need to be adjusted to align me in achieving the mission. Understanding that life is unpredictable but being able to adapt to situations is vital to yours and my success. With a grueling 20hr work week with my coaches, doctor appointments for maintenance and formulating a strict nutritional diet all play a part. Some of the products that are key in my training are as such…
BodyTech Critical Aminos :
Branch chain amino acids are non-essential protein blocks, meaning you have to supplement them in your body because they are not produced. Their function is to help with muscle repair after athletic training, recovery and building leaner muscle. They can be used by all levels of fitness goers.
Ultimate 10 Probiotic :
Probiotics are the microorganisms located in the digestive system. They promote digestive and immune health. In this day in age with all the processed foods and hormones pumped into meats, these are vital to keeping your system flowing and being able to absorb the nutrients your body needs.
These are just a few of the products I keep within my arsenal that help me stack on track to accomplishing my goals set for the upcoming season. The greatest things about each of us as individuals is that we are all unique in what we need to reach our max potentials. Theres no better place to get all your body needs than theVitamin shoppe.
